The main aim of the Foundation shall be to facilitate and support Periyar Tiger Reserve Management in Bio-diversity Conservation with focus on Tiger and Prey species of Tiger and to take initiatives in Eco development through multi-stakeholders participation and to support similar initiatives in adjoining landscapes consistent with the National and State legislations.
Send us a messageAs part of the World Bank aided India Eco-development Project, several community based ecotourism programmes were started in Periyar Tiger Reserve. Focusing equally on visitor satisfaction, forest conservation and community welfare, these programmes have become an integral part of the management of Periyar Tiger Reserve.It benefits around five hundred tribal families directly, apart from the multiplier effects it has on the society and the economy of the state of Kerala.

It is an adventurous trekking and camping programme.

The newly introduced self-guided trek at Periyar Tiger Reserve now explore the beauty of nature through a self-guided soft trekking. In this program the tourists will be guided by a number of bio-diversity themes, pictures of birds carved out in stone, tree species name board etc. The trekking starts from entrance gate and ends up near to the boat landing area.
Bus Safari is the simplest way to explore Periyar Tiger Reserve. The park organizes a 6.30 hrs bus safari through the tourism zone of the Tiger Reserve.
