Welcome to PTCF

The main aim of the Foundation shall be to facilitate and support Periyar Tiger Reserve Management in Bio-diversity Conservation with focus on Tiger and Prey species of Tiger and to take initiatives in Eco development through multi-stakeholders participation and to support similar initiatives in adjoining landscapes consistent with the National and State legislations.

Our Services

As part of the World Bank aided India Eco-development Project, several community based ecotourism programmes were started in Periyar Tiger Reserve. Focusing equally on visitor satisfaction, forest conservation and community welfare, these programmes have become an integral part of the management of Periyar Tiger Reserve.It benefits around five hundred tribal families directly, apart from the multiplier effects it has on the society and the economy of the state of Kerala.

Periyar Tiger Trail

It is an adventurous trekking and camping programme.

Bamboo Rafting

This daylong hitch-hiking programme is offered for twenty visitors per day in two different routes.

Nature Walk & Green Walk

This programme take visitors through the Periyar Tiger Reserve.

Jungle Inn & Edapalyam Watch Tower

This is an opportunity for nature lovers to stay inside one of the watchtowers constructed inside the forest.

Bamboo Grove

It is an ethnic style accommodation facility where the typical tribal huts are recreated in the middle of bamboo clumps and grasslands.

Jungle Scout

This unique protection oriented ecotourism programme intends to entertain those who are desirous of expecting the wilderness during night.

Jungle camp

The package includes vehicle safari from Thekkady to Gavi and trekking (both plantation and forest).

Border Hiking

This daylong hard trek along the ridges and valleys can cater to the needs of ten guests per day.

Tribal Dance

The youth of the Mannan and Paliyan tribes living in the fringes of the Park are eager to revive their forgotten culture and the folklores. They have been successful in documenting the lost traditional dance forms of their cult and are all set to launch the traditional dance programmes.

Pugmark Trial

The newly introduced self-guided trek at Periyar Tiger Reserve now explore the beauty of nature through a self-guided soft trekking. In this program the tourists will be guided by a number of bio-diversity themes, pictures of birds carved out in stone, tree species name board etc. The trekking starts from entrance gate and ends up near to the boat landing area.

Gavi Bus Safari

Bus Safari is the simplest way to explore Periyar Tiger Reserve. The park organizes a 6.30 hrs bus safari through the tourism zone of the Tiger Reserve.

Interpretation Centre

The Periyar Interpretation Centre is a visual and audible treat for nature lovers who visit the Periyar Tiger Reserve.
